Art Lab Rx provides group art therapy through partner organizations, not as a public, open enrollment service. We collaborate with agencies, schools, nonprofits, and community-based organizations that want to integrate art therapy into their existing programs or offer structured, clinician-led group sessions for the people they serve.
If you are an individual looking for services, please contact us about individual art therapy options. Group services are coordinated through organizations.
How Our Group Services Work
Group art therapy is delivered in partnership with an organization that:
Art Lab Rx then provides a qualified clinician to facilitate sessions and align the experience with the organization’s environment, policies, and the needs of participants.
Our approach is designed to support organizations that want to add a creative, evidence-informed mental health service to their programming without misrepresenting the scope of what they offer internally.
What Group Art Therapy Can Support
Group art therapy can be an effective format for participants who benefit from:
Groups are always facilitated with a focus on emotional safety, boundaries, and clear expectations.
Who We Serve Through Partner Agencies
Art Lab Rx provides group art therapy to organizations that serve a range of communities. Examples may include agencies that support:
- Teens ages 13+ in school or community settings
- Adults navigating grief, stress, and life transitions
- People living with medical challenges, including cancer
- Veterans and first responders, when coordinated through an agency, organization, or referral partnership
- Individuals in recovery settings, when the recovery center coordinates programming
- Agencies that provide disability support programming and want to incorporate art therapy as a therapeutic service
Important note: Art Lab Rx provides art therapy services. We do not represent ourselves as operating disability programs, veteran programs, or recovery programs. We provide art therapy as a clinical service within the programs and settings managed by partner agencies.
Group Formats We Can Provide
Because each partner organization’s setting and needs are different, groups are customized based on scope and goals. Common formats include:
- Time-limited groups focused on a specific theme (for example: coping skills, emotional regulation, grief processing)
- Ongoing groups integrated into an established schedule within the organization
- Closed groups for a defined cohort
- Psychoeducational and skills-based groups that incorporate art-based therapeutic interventions
We will clarify the appropriate structure during planning to ensure it aligns with the organization’s expectations and participant needs.
Where Groups Take Place
We offer flexible delivery options depending on what works best for your organization.
On-Site at Your Facility
We can facilitate group sessions in a private room within your organization. A suitable space typically includes:
- Tables or workspace for art-making
- Access to water when possible
- Basic cleaning access
- AV capability if needed for programming support
Mobile Art Therapy Studio (Maggie)
When appropriate, our mobile art therapy studio can extend access by bringing materials and facilitation directly to the community. This option is best suited for organizations looking to reduce participation barriers related to transportation, access, or space.
What a Typical Group Session Includes
While every group is adapted to its setting, most sessions include:
Facilitation is clinician-led and structured to prioritize psychological safety and respectful engagement.
Getting Started as an Organization
If your organization would like to explore group art therapy services, we will begin with a short planning conversation to confirm:
- The population served and age range
- The purpose of the group and desired outcomes
- Logistics: location, schedule, number of participants
- Collaboration expectations and coordination process
From there, we can propose a clear scope that accurately represents the service and supports your programming needs.
